Ukalta is west of its namesake hamlet and about 90 km Northeast of Edmonton. Except for an ATV Track running down the eastern portion, the NA seems to be undisturbed. Plant communities go from park-like jackpine forests to thick marshy areas – all within a few metres.

In 2017, an encroachment was reported on the easterly portion of the NA. Although the specific location is not clear, an obvious encroachment on the easterly portion was not noted with this visit.

What is the Naturalness of the Site? 4=Great, 0=TerribleQ314 – Great
How Natural?: commentsQ32The NA has adjoining and mostly undisturbed plant communities of coniferous trees and marshy areas. A botanist would have a field day working their way through these communities. A hunter would appreciate the healthy population of ungulates (based on tracks and scat). Anyone trying their luck on the game trails will need to expect lots of bushwhacking and should have a keen sense of direction.
