A Tetris Site
Looking like two pieces from the computer game, Tetris, a field trip will attempt to cover both pieces. There is no recent information on the site so ‘reconn-rules’ prevail. That means, expected the worst and hope for the best.
Who Can Come/Invited?
- SAPAA Board Members.
- SAPAA Members and friends.
- Individuals interested in SAPAA but not YET a member.
- Government officials.
There is no cost to participate nor reimbursement for mileage, etc. Attendees are encouraged to complete a Site Inspection for the site(s) afterwards. Training on the form will be offered in the field and prior to this trip.
Cautions, Details, and Risks
- This is an all day activity in heavily forested areas well away from amenities (no bathrooms, running water, public transit, etc.).
- By signing up, you are attesting that you are comfortable in such a semi-wilderness environment.
- Trails may be great or non-existent – a site inspection, such as this, is the only way to find out. Planned for a rough walk possibly along rutted ATV tracks or dear trails.
- Bring lunch, fluids, appropriate clothing, and bug/sun screen.
- Plan and dress accordingly for the weather.
- The attendees will be broken into teams to maximize coverage of the NA. You will not be alone but you may be with a small group of individuals you may not know.
- Rubber boots for hiking shoes are strongly recommended given recent rains, etc.
- Bear precautions (spray, noise, etc.) is required for this trip and also works on love-sick moose and deer.
- A hiking application and/or GPS with loaded maps is recommended.
Stops of Interest
(Other than the 1000h start, all other times are approximate and subject to change)
- Car pooling is NOT planned, however, you can make request in the registration and we will see if it is possible but no promises.
- 1000h: Meet at the Clyde Corner Restaurant & Esso Svc gas Station (just East of HWY 2 on HWY 8).
- 1400h: About 2-4 hours of visiting.
- Depending on the day of the week, a coffee, etc.
- 1600h: Finish site visit.
