This site is on the southwest corner of Battle Lake. It straddles the area between the lake to the north and Highway 13 to the south. This site is not to be confused with Battle Lake NA (OC) which is located about 4 km to the southwest. The Mount Butte Natural Areas (OC and PNT) are at the opposite end of the lake.

Battle Lake is like the forgotten little sister of Pigeon Lake. Of course Pigeon Lake pales in comparison to the much more glamorous cousin, Sylvan Lake further south. In both cases, this is a good thing. It means less development, and more nature. To this point, this NA is largely inaccessible outside of a well head located near hwy 13. A steep escarpment quickly falls off down to the southern end of the lake. Terrible terrain, excellent for graceful moose and deer whose tracks where plentiful when I visited the site last month.
