Reclaiming 40 Years of Stewardship

The post discusses the Historical Site Inspection Reports (SIR) and the process for individuals to reclaim their redacted submissions. If interested parties submit the form by November 1, 2025, SAPAA will compile and present results at the Annual General Meeting.

In the previous post, Putting a Price on 40 Years of Stewardship, the above graphic and following table was introduced concerning 40 years of site inspection information. Noted in this post was that the name of the Steward was redacted to comply with provincial privacy laws.

Reclaiming Your Inspections

If you are part of the redacted group, you can ‘reclaim’ your inspections. All the Alberta Government asks is that you give them permission to tell SAPAA which individual inspection report belongs to you. The board has run this process with three members (Hubert, Myrna, and Tony B.) and one organization (Alberta Wilderness Association) with success.

To reclaim your reports, please complete the following form by November 1, 2025. SAPAA will gather up and present the results at the November 29, 2025 Annual General Meeting (as received by that point). If you miss this deadline, still make a request as SAPAA will work with the Province to periodically update the data.

If the Steward is unable to make the request, the Province will accept a member of the immediate family or very close friend (e.g. executor of an estate). Please note such details in the following form to justify the data release.

Some Caveats and Cautions

SAPAA will send you a pdf file containing all reports submitted under your name, text only, sorry, no photos or other files. This is how Hubert discovered that some of his reports were edited before being entered into the provincial government system.

Also, if you have an unsubmitted report, you can still include it in the data set by completing a site inspection report. Finally, thank you for your time, talent, and treasure to support Alberta’s protected areas.

You are an inspiration over the past 40 years.
