SIR-SAPAA PoC Advisory Panel

Version 4 of the SIR-SAPAA application will support organizations who manage sites. These SAPAA members have very different needs as opposed to individual SAPAA members. A proof of concept will gather insights from organizations leading to a field test in December. Interested panelists are asked to sign up via the form below before October 29, 2026.

SAPAA has two member types—individuals and organizations. Some of the organizations are also site managers. Wagner, Riverlot 56, Halfmoon Lake, and  J.J. Collett Natural Areas are maintained by the respective nonprofits who hold a Crown Lease. Site managers have different information needs as compared to an individual SAPAA member.

Background

SAPAA launched the Site Inspection Report (SIR) SIR‑SAPAA app last spring. Development on versions 2 and 3 are in progress (see SIR-SAPAA – Beyond Version 3. These versions still focus on the individual user. Version 4 will focus on the needs of site managers.

To understand the requirements of the site managers, SAPAA is conducting a proof of concept (PoC). Lessons learned will be incorporated into version 4 of SIR-SAPAA and developed in the Winter of 2027. PoC Advisory Panel will guide SAPAA and the development team.

About the PoC and the Advisory Panel

The advisory panel is an ad hoc group made up of SAPAA Members and select peer organizations. It has a very short duration, laser focus on SIR-SAPAA, and the following timeframe:

  • October: Recruit PoC members, survey of participants.
  • November 1, 7pm: Kick off Zoom Meeting, sneak peak of Versions 2 and 3.
  • November: One or two meetings to monitor build progress, early testing.
  • December: Field test the prototype, update requirements.
  • Winter 2027: Develop Version 4 based on requirements gathered in the PoC.
  • January 31: Disband PoC Advisory Panel

What’s It Going to Cost Me?

The commitment is small: A few meetings … A survey … One December field test … and a January Wrap‑up meeting.

There is no ongoing obligation. In return, participants get to directly influence the requirements for the Site Manager version of SIR‑SAPAA. Even if you cannot commit to the Advisory Panel, please consider completing the requirements survey coming out in October.

Next Steps and a Delicate Matter

SAPAA Members (and peer organizations) who want to participate are ask to sign up below before October 29, 2026. A kick off meeting is planned for Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 7pm (virtual). SAPAA is hoping for 5–7 panelists.

Links to the survey and meeting invitations will be sent out to everyone who has registered.

As for the delicate matter, in the modern nonprofit sphere, there are lots of ‘lurkers’. That is individuals who want to observe but do not contribute. If you run a nonprofit, you know what I mean. If you say yes, please commit to being actively engaged. SAPAA promises to deeply respect your time. When we need you, however, please bring your ‘A’ game.

If you cannot commit and don’t want to complete the survey, we will do our best the estimate your business needs and incorporate them in the PoC. No further action on your part is required.
