The Caribou River Natural Area consists of a complex of OC and PNT sites, with the OC portion occupying the smaller area, much of it straddling the Caribou River, approximately 15 km northeast of Fort Vermilion.

Other Information
The Caribou River Natural Area is composed of mesic shrubby grassland interspersed with aspen groves, alluvial terraces of the Caribou River, meander scars, and dry south-facing grassland on the escarpment of the Peace River which represents remnant grassland of the Peace River Parkland. It provides ungulate winter range and a migration corridor between the Peace River and the Caribou Mountains (Alberta Parks website, 2012).
The Peace River forms the southern border of the OC site, and a southern PNT portion abuts the Peace River and in the east extends north along the Caribou River.
