Other Information
The vegetation is mainly pine-aspen-white spruce forest with a scattered birch and a well-developed herb layer, young aspen-balsam poplar forest, and black spruce/Sphagnum bog. (Alberta Parks website, 2012).
Adjacent or not? The municipality of Easyford is located a few km west of the two Natural Areas on Secondary Highway 621. Although they are not shown as adjacent on the Government of Alberta’s protected area data set (on which the above Google map is based), the two Natural Areas appear to be connected on the Brazeau County landownership map. The same map indicates both sites have leases on them [1]. Both areas are heavily disturbed by oilfield activities .
Was Easyford named for an easy ford? The origin of the name is presumed to be descriptive of a crossing of the Pembina River which is about 6 km west of the NA.
