As discussed in a previous post, Looking for a Few Good Reports, SAPAA is piloting a site inspection report. We are now a month into the pilot and have lots of good lessons, one of which, a cheat sheet is a good idea – so here it is!

Where is the LINK to the SAPAA Site Inspection Form?

SAPAA 2023 Site Inspection Form -2023 Version.

List of Stewards

As this is a proof of concept, only a small number of individuals have been invited (or show inclination) to fill out the form. A drop down list currently has four names plus a guest spot.

If your name is not on the list, and you will be submitting more than one inspection report in 2023, email webmaster@sapaastewards.com and Phrank will add you to the list. Otherwise select ‘guest’.

A Note on Photos – On the List

Worth a 1,000 words, photos are important. For SAPAA Board members who have the correct access save the photos directly into the respective SAPAA site folder. Photos upload directly must follow SAPAA’s Image Management Standards. Please note size and naming conventions:

NO: identifiable faces of people (and in particular images of children) due to privacy. PLEASE: crop and reduce file size to <500KB. Include location, subject and, date  in file name: e.g. AlexoNA-Sasquatch-2098-12-31.  (Q303)

Fill Out the Form

Most of the rest of the form is self-explanatory. If you have questions, email webmaster@sapaastewards.com and Phrank will try to answer. Once again, this is a proof of concept for 2023, if the form changes a bit between visits it means that it is getting better.

Changing Form, Enduring Data

A final note, while the form may change, the data will be preserved. Each question is indexed (e.g. Q33) so that as questions are added or dropped, the data is never compromised.

Feel free to add past site visits via the form. The more data points we collect, the better the 2024 version will be!
