What is Citizen Science and how can the Organizational Steward support and benefit from a ‘CitSci’ project? Stephanie Weizenbach, Executive Director of Nature Alberta and founding member of Citizen Science Alberta joins other guests as we explore this topic through this virtual session.

Some of Alberta’s nature areas are managed by nonprofit organizations. Collectively, these organizations are called ‘Organizational Stewards’. The Stewards of Alberta’s Protected Areas (SAPAA) mission is ‘Stewards Help Stewards’ – this includes peer organizations.

Sharing Best Practices With Your Peers

SAPAA will organize, run, and document 1-3 best practice sessions for interested organizations in the 2025 calendar year. Each session is about an hour long and organized into a presentation (20-30 minutes), followed by best practice share (10 minutes), and a round table discussion (10-20 minutes).

The virtual sessions are recorded but each session is considered private. Any recordings will be edited for brevity and clarity. SAPAA will facilitate and moderate the sessions. An annual, in person session, may also be organized. Notes from the first session are available via Notes – May 13 CoP of Organizational Stewards.
