This Natural Area is made up of two parcels of land with the southern portion bordering the Pembina River. Moon Lake itself is nearby, about 3 km east of the southern portion.

Other Information
The portion of this natural area that is adjacent to the river is comprised of river terraces and rolling uplands incised by several creeks. Vegetation includes upland aspen-balsam poplar forest (both mature and second growth), black spruce-tamarack-dwarf birch wetlands, sedge meadows and some paper birch and balsam poplar stands.
Intervening Parcels of Land between the two portions of the NA consist of a mix of private and Crown lands, with a waste transfer facility near the northern portion [1].
Moon Lake is a translation of the original aboriginal name for the nearby small body of water, likely describing the shape of the lake [2].
