Other Information

The mountain was so named because it resembles a resting moose on the horizon. A popular hike and destination for Calgarians, Moose Mountain is about 8 km west of the Bragg Creek (PNT) Natural Area. The summit attracts hikers who wish to climb a mountain and visit the fire lookout station [1]. A Forestry Service fire lookout at the summit is the third building to have occupied the site for this purpose since the first was built in 1929 [2].
